  1. One question for all of the charter school opponents of which I am one - if this school is finally given the green light to open (all avenues of revocation exhausted) what will all of us to do to help mend the fences and heal the community? Afterall, the children, administrators and teachers will be made up of our neighbors. I hope people can put their differences aside and work together. If we can't do that then our education community will be a lot worse than it is now.

Is this group willing to do that?

  2. Hello Tom,

Thank you for your comment. I am deeply committed to our community and do hope to mend fences where fences have been broken. Once the approval process--including the need for discussion of the weaknesses of the charter application--has been thoroughly investigated by the IG it seems that our city should be able to move forward. I continue to be friends with the charter applicants and our children continue to be friends. This is not about holding grudges. I agree that it is in the best interest of our community and our children to work together and will encourage the people with whom I have worked to do so as well.

  3. I believe you are in fact committed and will work in the best interest of the children. However, I have my doubts that others feel the same. I don't see the superintendant and the other more vocal opponents standing aside. We can't affort the education community to ignore the new school and brand the children and teachers who attend it.
